Amidst instructions from the Election Commission of India over
keeping it away from the media, the Combined Commanders Conference was
held at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) here, on Saturday.
PM Narendra Modi, the chiefs of the Army, Air Force and Navy, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar were among those who attended the annual conference, which was being held at the IMA for the first time.
PM Narendra Modi, the chiefs of the Army, Air Force and Navy, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar were among those who attended the annual conference, which was being held at the IMA for the first time.
Recently,
in New Delhi, Chief Minister Harish Rawat had raised apprehensions over
the conference and had said that the BJP was publicising the conference
to draw electoral benefit from it. “It is a violation of the Model Code
of Conduct. Many things will be said during the conference that could
have an effect on the mind of the voters,” Mr. Rawat had said.
However,
a day before the conference, the EC issued directions where it was
instructed that nothing about the meet must be mentioned in the media
that would affect the electorate. The conference was kept out of bounds
for the media.
